Adoption is. . .

Blogger just changed their format.  It's probably more user-friendly, but I was just thinking about how I've FINALLY gotten the hang of the old format.  Sheesh.  It's like that new H-E-B down the road.  I'm sure it's got some great stuff and it's huge, but I miss the OLD store.  Know what I mean?

Anywho. . . this post is really not about hating change.  Although I do.  A lot.  This post is about an amazing video that was shared with me today about the beauty of adoption.  I have noticed so much negative attention in the media recently towards adoption.  Women coming out and saying they were "forced" to give their child up for adoption, tv shows (think "Once Upon a Time") that portray adoptive mothers as evil, self-serving individuals, whose adoptive children wish for nothing more than to overcome the hardship that adoption apparently is.  Or Teen Mom shows that glorify raising a child in poverty without a father.  It's disgusting, really.

Women who give their children up for adoption are not selfish.  On the contrary, giving a child up for adoption is the most SELFLESS act a person can do.  While I know how painful it is to not be able to have a child of my own, I can't even begin to imagine how painful it is to have a child and choose to give him/her a better life with someone else.  Birth moms are my heroes!

I hope that you will watch the entire video below. It is beautiful and portrays (in my mind) what adoption really is and should be.
